Dr Atkins recommends that when we decrease our consumption of carbohydrates to considerable amount, our body change from burning carbohydrates to burning fat as fuel. Carbohydrates that break down rapidly, are considered high in (GI ) Glycaemic Index and this are white bread, candy, and other sugary or processed foods and etc.

Carbohydrates that slowly break down, such as lot of fruit, vegetables, and grains, are considered low GI .(Low Glycaemic Index) Carbohydrate consumption is regulated to 20 grams daily, and must be attained or obtained mostly from salad and other vegetables that are not starchy. Absolutely eliminated are fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables, or dairy products. Cheese, cream, and butter may be eaten

Sugar from the carbohydrate quickly enters the bloodstream. To keep the blood sugar from getting too high, the body secretes insulin .[34] Sugar and alcohol are not allowed, and caffeine is discouraged. Mineral and vitamin supplementation, dietary fiber, and eight glasses of water day are recommended

Fatigue, irritability, depression, headaches, and even many forms of joint and muscular pain simply go away. Furthermore, you should see significant improvement in your blood profile, (including cholesterol and blood pressure levels) Fat is far more energy-rich than carbohydrates but does not break down as easily. Thus, you get plenty of energy, and it is released more slowly.
